This model was an effort to try some new techniques and do something I have not done before. I wanted it to tell a story, so I decided to make a scene where one of the miniatures was being turned into a tree. I sculpted the floating island out of foamcore and shaped it with a soldering iron. For the tree I had originally planned on creating a basic structure from foil and then using sculpting putty on the outside. However, after shaping the tree I realized the foil had the perfect texture already so I ended up painting right over the foil. It was an accidental discover and a technique I look forward to using again. I am very pleased with the end result and it was a fun challenge.
